Knotwood began on the Gold Coast in 2007 with a simple goal: to deliver the beauty of timber without the maintenance. We started as a specialist powder coating service focused on premium wood grain finishes for aluminium. But it didn’t stop there.
Founders Darren Galway and Alan Divall saw a gap in the market, architectural systems that didn’t require welding, had concealed fixings, and were easy to install. The solution? Combine stunning design with practical innovation. That’s how Knotwood was born.

In 2021, Michael Saba joined Darren as a business partner, bringing a strong commitment to people, principles, and the planet. His involvement has helped Knotwood stay true to its family-run roots while embracing sustainable design.
We’ve grown from a local service into a global leader, with over 170 aluminium profiles designed for many versatile applications. Our award-winning systems are now used worldwide—from homes in New Zealand and Hawaii to commercial projects across the USA, Canada, Europe, the Caribbean, and South Africa.
